Get Out on the Road Again

While we are certainly not out of the woods yet, the future is looking much brighter for the cycle tour industry. Everyone here at Ride and Seek is looking forward to getting out on the road again later in 2021 and in 2022. We can’t wait to explore the world again with our adventurous and tenacious guests and team members. We’d like to inspire you, whether you’ve been on an epic cycling tour before or if you’ve always dreamed of cycling hundreds of miles with like-minded adventurers. As travel opens up and we look out over the vast journeys ahead of us, we are filled with hope and anticipation for what’s to come.

Rather than overwhelming you by looking at all of our Epic Cycling Tours, we’d like to take a closer look at some of our guests’ favourite experiences: our Napoléon Bike Tour and our 3 Islands Mediterranean Bike Tour.

Our Napoléon Bike Tour — From Paris to Saint Petersburg

One of our greatest bike tours, this epic journey takes 36 days to cover the 3702 km/2300 miles. So, it is somewhat of an understatement to say this is not for the faint-hearted! As its name suggests, this tour follows the trail of one of modern history’s greatest conquerors: Napoléon Bonaparte. This huge tour is split up into three distinct stages, and you can opt to ride only one leg of the journey, two, or all three stages. You can read about the entire Paris to St Petersburg cycling tour or you can skim the highlights below:

The first stage takes you from Paris to Bautzen. You will explore the oak-lined canals of Paris before heading eastwards, along the idyllic regions of Champagne-Ardenne and Lorraine before entering south-western Germany, traversing the famous Rhineland on your way to Bautzen.

The second stage takes you from Bautzen to Vilnius, leaving Germany’s perfectly smooth cycle paths for Poland’s rural roads lined with deciduous giants along the quieter routes through the beautiful Polish countryside on our way to the incomparable city of Gdansk and onwards to Lithuania and the impressive baroque architecture found in the capital city of Vilnius.

The third stage is between Vilnius and Saint Petersburg. With the largest travel distances per day of just below 200 km, this final stage of the tour is arguably the most epic yet. These longer distances are mostly possible due to the relatively gentle relief in the Baltic states. This is flat cycling around inland seas instead of climbing the mountainous landscapes of central and Western Europe. We move from Lithuania into Latvia, then into Estonia, which each nation’s countryside offering its own distinct flavour. Finally, we make it to Russia and to its former capital, St Petersburg.

Our 3 Islands of the Mediterranean Bike Tour — Corsica, Sardinia, and Sicily

This epic bike tour of the Mediterranean takes place over 23 days, spanning a distance of 1788 km/1111 miles. With three completely different islands, each with their own distinct look and feel, this is the perfect epic tour for anyone looking for as much variety as possible on their next bike tour. We invite you to spend a little time reading about the entire 3 Islands Mediterranean Bike Tour, but if you’d like the highlights, we’ll summarise the three different stages below — each of which is available as a mini-epic bike tour in its own right.

The first stage takes place in Corsica. Starting out in Bastia, in the north of Corsica, we travel southwards, along the west coast, through Corsica’s majestic mountains and idyllic fishing villages. The countryside is breathtaking and the first week’s journey ends in the beautiful village of Bonifacio. From here, we sail to Sardinia.

The second stage of the tour explores Sardinia, along the island’s western coast. Not only is this particular coastline covered with beautiful beaches and rugged cliff sides, it has a long and fascinating history with the Phoenicians, meaning there are plenty of structures to see and there are centuries of history to unpack. The Sardinia tour culminates in the picturesque and colourful capital city of Cagliari. From here, we sail to Sicily.

The third stage of the journey takes place in Sicily, starting in Palermo, travelling first along the western edge of the island, and then along the entire southern coastline, finishing in Catania. The views will take your breath away and the weather is consistently beautiful.
